Case Study

The owners of this home on Soledad Road in La Jolla had a dream, one they could appreciate after becoming “empty nesters”. The existing residence near the top of Soledad mountain was in bad repair and poorly oriented to the spectacular views of Mission Bay and downtown San Diego.

The owners took many months to decide the layout of their dream home. It included facts like: easy or no maintenance; they wanted family and friends to visit, but long stays would be discouraged; and early morning hours in separate offices were required. They settled on a two bedroom, two office home with a pair of bathrooms on each floor.

Work began after the new year, with demolition of the old “redlodge” and finished in time for the owners to move in before Thanksgiving. The new house offers southerly views over Mission Bay to beyond Tijuana. The house fulfils the dream only imagined by the owners a short time ago.
